COMPUTER CONTROLLED PIPE ORGANS:

HISTORY

Pipe organs, since their historical very beginnings, 3000 years ago, are both an artistical and technical "média",
between organist's hands and real pipes.
During seculars, pipe organs have been considerbly improved, by several inventions:
registers, mechanical tracking, pneumatical tracking, and more recently électronical tracking.

Computer-controlled pipe organs belong to this long tradition.

Respect of the Organist touch control.
Respect of the sound production, only by the way of pipes.
Attaque sonore franche et directe, (comme le souhaitait Bach)
A wished Bach, rapid, direct, control of the valves.
A cost effective electronic systèm , but reliable and compact.

Following this idea, computer were introduced, linked with an electronic de control, complies perfectly with thsese criterias..

It allows a tracker-like touch feeling
It don't change in any way the sound production.
It reduces costs and volume, by suppressing registers, abreges and mechanical transmissions.
It increases considerably the global reliability.
It provides a quick, direct valve control, much quicker than those obtained by register bodies.

It allowsmoreover unbelievable new possibilities unknown until now présent on classical pipe organs:
Registers combinations de registres, transpositors, score reading and writing, virtual registers, crescendo, tremblant.
