MATRIXED KEYBOARDS USING FATAR MATRIXED KEYBOARDS :
FROM MATRIX TO DIRECT WIRING :
Return to boards for organs

Numerous keyboards suppliers (about 99%) are using FATAR keyboards as OEM keyboards. (At huge prices)
The best FATAR keyboard is the TP6/LP DF (about 169$ each)
Look (and compare...) at : www.fatar.com
All American keyboards are in reality, FATAR keyboards...
They
have very simple electronic boards with diodes under the keyboard which
are matricing the keyboard input signal. (Look at Shemas 1 and 2)
The connectors are directly plugged to my KI6x8x8_MIDI_USB
for 1 to 4 keyboarrds and pedalboard.
Some
old organ suppliers have exotic cabling schemes depending on the
various suppliers. At present all are using the FATAR standard.
If your keyboard is DIODE FORWARD (DF) my boards are directly compatible.
If your keyboard is DIODE REVERSE (DR)
Diode connections are explained here :

Pins 2 4 6 8 for velocity keyboards.
BUT : TRANSFORM TO DIRECT KEY CONTROL IS EASY !
In case of doubt, a secure method can be used : wire directly the contacts as showed on shemas 1 and 2. (or HALL
boards with my KIH32 boards) with KI64 or PEDUSB. If diode orientation is DIODE FORWARD (DF), my KI6x8x8 boards can be directly plugged.
In case of DIODE REVERSE, wire directly the key contacts.
Same wiring for pedalboards.

SCHEMA 2 : Direct wiring |
HOW TO WIRE following SCHEMA 1 to 2 :
- Detect common blocks of 8 keys and strap them with the blue straps.
- Connect this ne common to 0V on my boards. (PEDUSB or KI6x8x8 or KI8x8x8)
- These commons are accessible on my boards. For example on the '-' of the filtering condenser.
- Connect to my board entries as showned in green figure 2 with flat ribbons.
- Test each note. No problem : injected tensions can't affect the keyboards.
- Ifnécessaire, cut the wires marked in red (schema 1). But normaly, it's not necessary.
- Same principle for pedalboard.
