General information:

This viewer is not a complete, standard compliant, VRML browser, because VRML objects decoding is not always guaranted. It's more a high performance viewer dedicated to high quality real time visualization, and associated to well-defined and carefully prepared data bases:
In general, available VRML objects are not very complex, levels of details are not computed. Moreover, commercial viewers don't implement correctly textures, highlights, etc...Our brother is dedicated to high quality rendering for complex, scalabled and detailed data bases. particularly for large patrimonial architectures and "Cultural Heritage" monuments.

However, Viewer_Texture is VRML1 and 2 compatible, but don't parse all VRML known nodes. (Even commercially available browsers don't !) Geometric nodes are completely decoded. Any VRML1 or 2 objects are not guaranted. But objects generated by 3DSTUDIO VRML plugin are fully decoded, and 100% guaranted.

MAIN FEATURES:
Fast texture and material rendering have been carefully enhanced compared with other available products.
This viewer is particularly dedicated to very large 3D data bases real time rendering such as:
- Virtual Museums
- Virtual commercial galleries
- Historic reconstructions
- Prehistoric or historic sites or events reconstitution.

CHARACTERISTICS:

Several objects have been tested, and other tools have been designed for automatic 3D objects decimation , in order to compute levels of details in real scenes. This capability is very important for rendering large data bases on small PC's with openGL graphic boards.

REQUIREMENTS:
As any 3D real time viewer, Viewer_Texture need mandatory a recent, low cost 3D openGl compatible graphics card. (NVIDIA or ATI Radeon or ex Guillemot Xentor, Accelgraphics, Diamond or Optia are quite suitable).(cost for Xentor: about 1500 €)

Except for the graphic card it is absolutely not necessary to use a powerfull PENTIUM V XXX Mhz: A simple 200 or 233 is quite sufficient, provided that a convenient graphics card is installed.

DETAILED CHARACERISTICS:summary

- VRML1 and VRML 2objects are generally read by our browser, but are not guaranted.
- IGN files are decoded (see TROCADERO and "Quartier de l'etoile" examples)

- Objects generated by VRML1 or 2 3DSTUDIO Max  plugins work fine. (100% success tested)
- Other exotic file, with # inserted in the VRML syntax, or having several "indexfaceset" keywords per object,
not  separated by "DEF" may be decoded, but without warranty.
- Comportmental nodes are not yet decoded.
- All shape (geometric nodes) are fully decoded on VRML1 or VRML2 files.
